/usr/share/elasticsearch# bin/elasticsearch-setup-passwords interactive -u "https://bcexc.daac.mil:9200"

Failed to authenticate user 'elastic' against https://bcexc.daac.mil:9200/_security/_authenticate?pretty
Possible causes include:
 * The password for the 'elastic' user has already been changed on this cluster
 * Your elasticsearch node is running against a different keystore
This tool used the keystore at /etc/elasticsearch/elasticsearch.keystore

You can use the `elasticsearch-reset-password` CLI tool to reset the password of the 'elastic' user

ERROR: Failed to verify bootstrap password, with exit code 78

I am facing this issue. if anyone have solution then i want to know that.

Hi Tushar Thakare,

After researching this command documentation, I have found that it is said it must be used only during the initial configuration of the Elasticsearch security features, so I guess you already set it up.

You should be able to change the passwords by:
  1. - using the  Management > Users
  2. by using the UI in Kibana or the Change Password API.
Let me know if it helps!

Regards,

Manuel.
