Hi,

We can see that the Wazuh agent packages for RHEL 5 and SLES 11 are listed in the Wazuh Installation Guide documentation, with version 4.14.1-1.

Could you please confirm whether jq is a mandatory requirement for installing the Wazuh agent on legacy/obsolete operating systems such as RHEL 5 and SLES 11?

If jq cannot be installed on these older platforms, how does Wazuh handle or parse JSON data internally in such environments?

Hello,

You can install the Wazuh Agent on RHEL systems using the packages provided in https://documentation.wazuh.com/current/installation-guide/packages-list.html. You might require jq if you use it for incident response scripts on your agents but it's not a mandatory requirement.

Kind regards

Hi gustavo,

Thanks for the details. Is there any Wazuh documentation that explains how jq is used for JSON data parsing?

Our expectation is for the RHEL5/SLES11 agents to communicate with the Wazuh server and send data similarly to agents running on newer operating systems, even in the absence of jq.

Would it be acceptable to ignore the jq dependency in this case?

In other words, could you please clarify what functionality or capabilities would be impacted if jq is not installed on the server where the Wazuh agent is deployed?
