I downloaded the Wazuh VM OVA a few months ago, extracted the .vmdk, and used it in a new Gen 1 VM in HyperV on Win10 Pro. It's running just fine.

But today I wanted to update it from 4.3.10 to 4.4.1, which involves logging in as root and banging out a bunch of commands such as:

echo -e '[wazuh]\ngpgcheck=1\ngpgkey=https://packages.wazuh.com/key/GPG-KEY-WAZUH\nenabled=1\nname=EL-$releasever - Wazuh\nbaseurl=https://packages.wazuh.com/4.x/yum/\nprotect=1' | tee /etc/yum.repos.d/wazuh.repo

which is fraught with potential for error if typed by hand.

HyperV Virtual Machine Connection: Clipboard: Type Clipboard Text results in garbage characters being typed.

I've enabled Guest Services in the Integration for this VM and rebooted, and I've tried:

yum install -y hyperv-daemons

but that returns "nothing to do" because they're already installed.

Is there any way to enable pasting into my Wazuh VM? Or do I need to re-create it as a Gen2 VM in HyperV?

Thanks!

Hello Steven,

Thank you for using Wazuh. We understand your concern regarding typing errors while updating Wazuh VM. Apologies for the inconvienience.

You should be able to enable pasting in your Wazuh VM. You can try enable copy-and-paste functionality between your host and guest operating systems with the Enhanced Session Mode feature.

We also recommend using the Wazuh Cloud service, which provides a hassle-free experience for managing and updating your Wazuh instance. Our Cloud service also offers a Wazuh indexer cluster, which can help you manage your logs efficiently.

Please let me know if it works.

Regards,
