can someone explain email sender to me?

I'm new to using Wazuh, and am trying to setup an email sender. Can someone explain how to setup an smtp? I've seen some videos/posts about editing the ossec.conf with my email server information, but there's also the "Create SMTP sender" option in the web admin interface, in notification -> email senders -> create smtp sender which also directs you to add your username and password via keystore settings. Can someone explain the difference or do I have to do both? I can't find any information about the web admin interface.

Hi Peter,

The Wazuh Indexer and Wazuh Dashboard started out as forks of Opensearch and Opensearch dashboards.

As such they give you all the functionality of those products as well as the SIEM and XDR features of Wazuh on top of that.

We usually suggest using Wazuh's built- in e-mail functionality as it is easier to set up and configure:

Unless you have any specific requirements that go beyond the capabilities of the e-mail module, our recommendation is to just use that one.
