Hello All,

I've never used Wazuh before, and I'm attempting to install it for the first time on a single machine (openSUSE Tumbleweed).

I am following the instructions at https://documentation.wazuh.com/current/installation-guide/open-distro/all-in-one-deployment/all_in_one.html  (Zypp instructions to be specific).

Installation is failing because chkconfig is not on the machine:

# zypper install wazuh-manager
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
Resolving package dependencies...

Problem: nothing provides '/sbin/chkconfig' needed by the to be installed wazuh-manager-4.2.2-1.x86_64
Solution 1: do not install wazuh-manager-4.2.2-1.x86_64
Solution 2: break wazuh-manager-4.2.2-1.x86_64 by ignoring some of its dependencies

I have not been able to find any package that offers chkconfig...from what I'm reading, it seems to have been made obsolete by the folks at openSUSE.

Are there any viable workarounds that would
(a) let me proceed without chkconfig
(b) let me cobble together an alternate chkconfig script that would allow Wazuh to be happy

Or is openSUSE simply not a supported platform for Wazuh?

Many thanks,
Derek

Hello Derek,

Thank you for notifying this, it seems that one of the latest tumbleweed updates remove the init.d services and chkconfig. chkconfig was required to remove the old API services in case of an upgrade from versions lower than 4.0.0 and to remove the init.d services after uninstalling,

Wazuh is compatible with OpenSUSE tumbleweed, I have tested the package, and ignoring the dependency does not cause any issue, but you may need to install hostname and openssl because they are not present in the default Tumbleweed installation.

zypper install hostname openssl

I have opened this Issue and PR to fix this and it will be included in future packages:
https://github.com/wazuh/wazuh-packages/issues/912
https://github.com/wazuh/wazuh-packages/pull/913

Regards,
