Hi All,

I've just upgraded Wazuh running in Docker to the latest v4.14.3.
All is good except for this instruction:

"6. Replace the content of single-node/config/wazuh_cluster/wazuh_manager.conf file in your stack with the one from the v4.14.3 tag of the Wazuh Docker repository."

Since I did some changes to this file (which is mounted into the container as the main config file ossec.cong) I understand all my changes will are overwritten with the default config of the newer version, and I have to do my changes over again? Is this correct understanding?

https://documentation.wazuh.com/current/deployment-options/docker/upgrading-wazuh-docker.html

Thank you
Peter

Hi Peter,

Yes, your understanding is correct, and this is expected behavior.

When upgrading to 4.14.3 and replacing the wazuh_manger.conf file with the version from the corresponding Docker tag, the file is fully overwritten. Any custom changes you previously made will not be preserved automatically.

This step is required because newer versions may introduce structural or configuration changes that are necessary for compatibility.

Recommended approach:
1. Backup your current configuration: cp single-node/config/wazuh_cluster/wazuh_manager.conf \ single-node/config/wazuh_cluster/wazuh_manager.conf.bak
2.- Replace the files as instructed in the documentation
3.- Compare both versions and manually reapply your custom changes: diff -u wazuh_manager.conf.bak wazuh_manager.conf

This ensures you keep your customizations while maintaining compatibility with the updated version.

Best regards,
Dennis Gamboa
