Hi guys,

May I know how to copy from external source and paste it into vi editor in wazuh server? I tried using 'p' to paste and it says "E353: Nothing in register".

Hello! Thanks for using Wazuh.

If the content to paste is already in your clipboard, inside of vi you can go into --INSERT-- mode (by pressing `i`) and use Ctrl+Shift+v to paste the content from your clipboard into the buffer.

Please don't hesitate to press `u` to undo, or forcefully quit without changes with `:q!` if the changes are not as expected, and come back to this thread.

Regards.

Hi,

I did what you told and instead only a blue color '^' is written in the editor.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Is the wazuh server running on a different host from the one you are trying to edit the file from? If it's a VM, there are a few caveats to copy-pasting, for example.

An accurate description of your current setup will help us troubleshoot this issue.

Regards.

Thanks for the response. Yes it is the OVA version running on VMware.

Interesting. Is VMware Tools installed in the VM? If so, copy-pasting from and between the guest should be possible. If not, please follow VMware's guide on installing VMware Tools and try the above suggestion again.

Best regards.
