Hello Team,

I need to upgrade Wazuh Agent for the Linux machine, but I want to back up the configuration files vital because I have already modified the rules. After successfully update, I want to restore the old configuration.

Kindly assist me how to implement this.

Regards,

Hello

The Wazuh Linux installer takes care of your custom configuration. It automatically backup your configuration files, install the new files, and restore your custom configuration files. I recommend you the following documentation if you want to upgrade the Wazuh agent: https://documentation.wazuh.com/4.0/upgrade-guide/upgrading-agent.html
Although, you said: "I have already modified the rules". The rules are in the Wazuh manager, not in the Wazuh agent. What files are you trying to backup? If you are trying to upgrade the Wazuh manager, there is another upgrade guide for this: https://documentation.wazuh.com/4.0/upgrade-guide/upgrading-wazuh.html. If you upgrade the Wazuh manager you probably need to upgrade the Wazuh Kibana plugin and, depending of your Elasticsearch version, maybe you need to upgrade it too: https://documentation.wazuh.com/4.0/upgrade-guide/elasticsearch-kibana-filebeat/index.html. Here: https://documentation.wazuh.com/4.0/upgrade-guide/compatibility_matrix/index.html#wazuh-and-wazuh-kibana-plugin you will find the compatibility matrix between Elasticsearch/Opendistro and Wazuh.

Please let me know if you have any doubt, I can help you in all the upgrade process.
Regards,
Alberto R

Great.
In addition to this, remember that if you have several Wazuh agents, it's not necessary to upgrade them manually one by one. You can use the Remote upgrade capability and upgrade them from the Wazuh manager: https://documentation.wazuh.com/4.0/user-manual/agents/remote-upgrading/index.html

Don't hesitate to ask me whatever you need.
Regards,
Alberto R
