Amywas encountered by Matt Shade and Angie Everett regarding the whereabouts of Tonya Gilbourne, who worked on the ship and was the fiancee of their latest client, Randall Strong, who suspected that Tonya was unfaithful to him. She claimed that Tonya had the day off, which went against Matt and Angie actually being served by Tonya, though a search of Tonya's locker appeared to prove Amy's claim. After drugs were discovered on the boat, the duo was led to believe that Tonya was possibly a drug dealer, and their investigation ended up being connected to Kurtis Mazhari's undercover sting regarding an opioid distribution ring.
Matt and Angie's return to the ship led them to Tonya, who was found tied up in one of the docks. Tonya was cleared as a suspect, as she stated that she realized that drugs were being distributed and that she was forced to dive off the ship to pick up the next batch, but got locked up when she refused. After Chuck, one of the henchmen appeared, he was later followed by Amy, who held Matt, Angie, and Tonya at gunpoint, revealing herself as the true drug dealer. The villainess ordered Tonya to make the dive, threatening to kill not only Matt and Angie, but Randall as well, after which she set up a meeting with "The Turk" (Maz's undercover alter-ego). During their meeting, the evil Amy handed Mazhari a gun and ordered him to shoot Tonya to prove his identity, only for Maz to later point his gun at Amy.
However, the gun was revealed to be empty, and Amy was set on shooting Maz before Matt and Angie entered. The latter of the two private eyes entered with a flare gun pointed at Amy, much to the villainess' amusement, but at that moment, Angie fired the gun into the warehouse's ceiling, which drew the attention of Danica Powers, Inspector Matlida Carlson, and the rest of the officers, who entered and arrested Amy and Chuck.
I spoke with Priestley Wednesday for an upcoming episode of
brioux.tv: the podcast. Look for him to talk about Private Eyes, his upcoming documentary on evil Leafs legend Harold Ballard and how 90210 mentor Aaron Spelling gave him his first directing break on the next podcast episode, schedule for Monday.
Everything about the series is easy on the eyes, one reason last season was the highest-rated Canadian returning series of 2020/2021 in the key A18-49 and A25-54 demos. It routinely draws a million or more viewers, remarkable over a five-year span where the million-mark has shrunk to about half that for many other Canadian-made scripted shows.
Priestley, as he told me today, was looking forward to more adventures before Corus pulled the plug on future episodes after this final, truncated, eight-episode season. The reduced order, apparently, had more to do with shooting through COVID than any other factors. The worst of it was the cast and crew had no idea that they were working on the last of Private Eyes. The series will end on another cliffhanger, and Priestley says it will be interesting to see how fans will be with that.
Historically, to be fair, light-hearted dramas have never been award magnets. The bigger prize for Priestley and company is knowing your show is popular at home and sells in 186 different territories arouund the world.
Still, this series would last ten seasons at least on a US network, where a known, winning brand would be prized for cutting through the clutter on a broadcast spectrum that keeps getting squeezed by streamers. Somebody should send a couple of private investigators over to Global to look into this.
YES PLEASE RECONSIDER! I love this show and why are we dropping support on a show that proudly showcases a great Canadian city like my home, Toronto and great Canadian acting and film industry talent. This show fills a genre and category that we need more of, lots more of one of, one of non-violence, fun, good morals and intriguing mysteries. If it really is Covid-19 getting in the way, then revive it later! My sister and I are going to miss this show very much!
Why did you drop Private Eyes. It was so good and showcased Toronto. It was a great hour of entertainment with Jason and Cindy. It was sure better than the mind numbing reality and cooking shows, like Chefs on a Wall. You guys sure know how to ruin a good thing. So sad. Please bring it back.
I agree with previous comments that it is so unfortunate Private Eyes is ending. It is a good show with a little humour mixed in with a serious storyline. I like the rapport between the characters. Wish they would reconsider the decision.
Private Eyes was my favourite Canadian show and I am really disappointed that it was abruptly finished. It is the sole reason that I have tuned into every new Canadian show each season, but none have appealed to me as much as Private Eyes. Hopefully another network will work something out to keep the show going. Too good to let go.
I just found out Private eyes is no more. I am not happy. why would you cancel great show and no warning about the last episode being the last of the show. We need more great shows like this on TV. Drama, humor and action.
I am dismayed at how many Grear shows get canceled in Canada & the USA, because of demographics, yet crap soap shows and cheap reality shows keep going on and on because they do not cost much to produce. English soaps are popular worldwide but foreigners think that is real life in the UK. it is not
A residence with a view of Los Angeles, whose shapes recall the style of Danish Modernism combined with the archetypal American rural architectures. A majestic frame for the furniture signed by Minotti, with forms inspired by the Kimbell Art Museum of Louis Kahn.
A clever interplay of balances, from the references to architecture to the materials used, from the view as far as the eye can see to ideas suspended half-way between the luxurious Scandinavian spas and the geometric evolutions of the barns scattered across the American countryside.
Three unmistakeable and recognisable pitched roofs, set together and differentiated only by the staires that connects the interior spaces, crown the three respective domestic volumes, each with its own function. The ground floor, a fluid space reaching from the patio at the entranceway to the private garden where the trapezoidal swimming pool is located, is thought for meeting and entertaining people. The gaze then widens out into a series of living areas characterised by ephemeral glass wall boundaries between indoors and outdoors, encourage the architecture to initiate a direct, tuneful dialogue with the surrounding nature; an harmony made possible also by the use of the materials and colours: the travertine floor that extends from the interior spaces as far as the garden, the concrete left au naturel with the marks of the formwork, the cream, white and grey shades chosen for the furniture.
The central volume, the only one with double height, is entirely covered in wood. Its golden nuances enhances the homely feeling of warmth, inundating the spaces with light; upstairs, the two side volumes host the more private areas: bedrooms, bathrooms, studio.
This elegant and sophisticated atmosphere also stretches into the side volume, where the living room and kitchen are located. Here, a soft, informal living area features the modular Andersen system and the Glover armchairs, both signed by Rodolfo Dordoni.
The primitive design of the American barn meets the sober calmness of decor with a Nordic feel, resulting in a minimalist but rich project that is large and contemporary but intimate and timeless too.
