Hi Adam!

First of all: thanks for WS. We've been using it on some of our rigs for a while now (mostly for convenient AUX signal recording and stim). Our ephys rigs, however, still use good old Ephus. The reason for this is (next to experimenter's inertia) that these rigs are equipped and used for optogenetic & uncaging laser scanning photo-stimulation. We thoroughly modified the original code which, frankly speaking, is now a bit of a steaming mess - but mostly working for our experiments.

However, since I very much prefer WS over the evolutionary mess of our current Ephus systems I'd like to switch. It would certainly not be too much of an issue for us to replicate stimulation scanner control and rastering ourselves, but it would certainly save quite some time and effort if you guys would already have done that...

Therefore my question: Are you planning to integrate LSPS functionality in WS anytime soon?

Thanks a lot for your software & help
Tobias (MPI Munich)

Apologies for not responding sooner.  I'm afraid this slipped through the cracks.

Sorry, but no, we have no plans to integrate LSPS functionality in WS.  It was decided that this was enough of a niche application that it didn't make sense to include it as part of WS.

But it *should* be possible to support LSPS using WaveSurfer's user code functionality:

If you decide to take this on, please let me know if you come across WS properties that you would like to access in your user code that are difficult or impossible to access from user code.  I suspect there are still some lacunae in this respect.

Sorry I couldn't give a more satisfying (or more prompt) response,
Adam

I'm interested in this also. If it makes it into a future patch, I'd be thrilled.
