For those internet savvy among you, and I assume if you're reading this
you must be, I have a project. You may or may not know that Cindi and
I (this is Smokie, by the way) spend a lot of time on the internet
assuring that the WWA's official website is the top of every search
engine imaginable, which is quite a task. In our forays through the
"best" of the internet, we often stumble upon photos of Watusi, usually
snapped by an awed tourist with the caption of "What is this?!?" or
posts in forums from the same. More often than not, well-meaning
individuals attempt to answer their questions, only not always
accurately. We have also come across several instances of photo
"infringement;" I hesistate to call it theft because I don't know the
circumstances surrounding how they obtained their photograph. More
often than not, someone has co-opted a photo from the WWA site and
placed it on theirs without a credit. I'm in the process of combating
this at the moment with a small logo in the corner of every photo we
use on the website, so even if someone steals the photo, others will
know where it came from. Unfortunately, there are even ways around
this if one knows how to use a photo editing program. What we need
from you, dear members, is some assistance in this neverending battle.
Whenever you have a few extra minutes, do a web search for "watusi"
using your favorite web or image search engine and follow the links.
If you find someone using a photo of ours, or yours, or someone else's,
kindly let them know and request a credit to the owner of the photo.
If you find someone has posted incorrect information about Watusi,
kindly post the correct info, preferably with a link to the WWA site.
Invite people to join this group to talk to others who are interested
in these animals. If five people with limited time do this, its almost
like we have one person full-time doing this!
For your convenience, here are links to the official website and the
group:

You can add these to your email signature (email me if you have
questions about that - blue...@gmail.com) and put them on your
business cards. Every little bit helps!
Thanks,
Smokie
With Watusi there is really so little factual information available on
the web or elsewhere that, for the time being at least, this will
remain a constant on going battle. We all must try to spread the true
facts and correct these many untruths as best we can. We do need to
try and be as polite and kind as possible while telling someone that
there beliefs are incorrect. Many of them will not care to even hear
the truth, but most all of us resent being corrected.
None the less, it is important to our promotion of this great breed of
rare animals that we do our best to provide accurate information. On
this same note, we need any input that you might have for our official
website...good and bad. We also need participation in the form of
photographs, news and articles. We can place some of these in our
official section of the print publication Rare Breeds Journal.
