I've tested the install of WattzAp on Windows 8.1. It is a similar procedure to Windows 7. The only issue is the Ant+ Dongle driver. When you plug the Dongle into your USB port Windows will automatically install a driver from Windows Update but this driver doesn't work with WattzAp. You will need to follow the following steps:-
1. Uninstall any ANT+ Driver that has already been installed
2. Turn off Driver updates for Windows
3. Unplug then plug the ANT Dongle
3. Run Zadig:
http://zadig.akeo.ie/4. Install the WinUSB driver
This driver should work ok with other programs as well. I don't know why the Dynastream driver causes issues with WattzAp. Just one of those things.
Here is detailed information for disabling driver updates on Windows 8.1, I assume Windows 10 is a similar process
http://www.trishtech.com/2013/02/disable-driver-installation-from-windows-update-in-windows-8/- Press the key combination Windows Logo Key + Pause on your keyboard. This would open the System information window.
- In this window, click on the Advanced system settings link on the left side as shown.
- This gives access to the Driver Manager, from where you can uninstall any ANT+ driver
- You can also select the Device Installation Settings
WattzAp ran fine in full screen mode on a 300 euro laptop. The only issue was a bug with language selection, you may be stuck with a French interface! I will fix this and make an interim release.
