Measurement types: OK.   I take it you are just importing the jscience jar file and using that code?

Requiring recompilation to add a new one:  also OK. (Seems like a reasonable trade-off; these should be very slowly changing.)

Let's do this discussion via the wattdepot-users list in future so that the discussion is public and archived. That will make it easier to remember how requirements were derived.

After talking with Robert on Friday, I decided to add the concept of MeasurementType to WattDepot.

Here are the currently defined MeasurementTypes that WattDepot understands right now:

  Energy (W·h)
  Power (W)
  Temperature (°F)
  Temperature (°C)
  Volume (gal)
  Volume (L)
  Mass (lb)
  Mass (kg)
  Flow Rate (gal/s)
  Flow Rate (L/s)
  Frequency (Hz)

Are there any more that you need Robert?

These types are based upon the JScience library, http://jscience.org/. This is an early implementation, but is working.

I can't think of a good UI to allow admins to create new MeasurementTypes. It is easy to do programmatically, but the options are hard to present in an UI.

I added Humidity (%) and Concentration (ppm) to the defined WattDepot Measurement Types.
