That makes it easy to find, say, all the photos of your brother Sam that were taken in Hawaii. But rather than having to sort through a long alphabetical list of keyword tags, Library now makes it possible to organize the keywords themselves, creating deeply hierarchical categories for people, places, and events. There's also a ready-made 5-star rating system for ranking images. Though Library's graphical interface still isn't as elegant as Photoshop Elements 3, the suite now offers roughly the same power for tagging photos.

The clumsy interface is the same, and outside of a flexible tool for converting color images to black-and-white, new image-editing features are negligible. Once you've got the taste for photo-editing, you may find it addictive. There are plenty of stand-alone programs and plugins that can give all sorts of fascinating effects - turning your photo into a cartoon, or making it resemble a watercolour or oil painting - see the website effects.htm, or try Canvas, at www.deneba.com, or XnView, a cheap image editor and converter whose filters various features include "oil effect" ( ). But in the end it's all down to your imagination. The nicest thing about working with digital pictures? That nowadays the darkroom can be your sunny living room.

Radiometry is verified by visual inspection of the digital orthophoto. Slight systematic radiometric differences may exist between adjacent orthoimage files; these are due primarily to differences in source image capture dates and sun angles along flight lines. These differences can be observed in an image's general lightness or darkness when it is compared to adjacent orthoimage file coverages. Tonal balancing may be performed over a group of images during the mosaicking process which may serve to lighten or darken adjacent images for better color tone matching.

This process involved the development of seamless topographic landform elevation dataset utilizing a combination of existing public domain elevation data sets existing public domain elevation data sets as well as the stereo compilation of new elevation data from the 2013 stereo imagery using autocorrelation techniques. All elevation data used was capable of supporting the production of digital orthophotography that meet or exceed required orthophoto horizontal accuracy. The topographic features included a grid of elevation points and may include break lines that define ridges, valleys, edge of water, transportation features and abrupt changes in elevation. The final DTM is suitable for orthophoto production only (not suitable for contour generation). The DTM is used to then generate a Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) to support orthophoto production.
Utilizing all four pan-sharpened bands [blue (B), green (G), red(R) and near infrared (IR)] digital orthorectification was performed using cubic convolution algorithms resulting in a spatial and radiometric transformation of the digital image from line/sample space into State Plane Zone 1002 Georgia West. The interior and exterior orientation parameters were used to project each pixel into the ground coordinate system, while the ortho grade DEM/DTM was used to correct for relief displacement. Radiometric correction software and techniques were used to create orthophoto files that minimize the appearance of image seams and without loss of feature signature. Orthophotos are checked for geometric accuracy, image quality and tonally balanced to produce a uniform contrast and tone across the entire project. The individual overlapping orthophoto frames were mosaicked together and the final tiles were extracted from the image set to a 5,000 x 5,000 foot tiling scheme consisting of 3,346 individual ortho tiles. Delivery included digital ortho photos at a 6" pixel ground sample distance in 8 bit, 4 band (RGB and NIR) uncompressed GeoTIFF and MrSID files. The ortho photos meet a horizontal accuracy of +/- 2.5-feet or less at 95% confidence level when compared to higher accuracy check points based on NSSDA testing standards.
