Watford Friends of Salfeet

Aims to make friendship and twinning links between Watford and Salfeet, West Bank Palestine.

(A) The aims of the Friends of Salfeet are:

- to promote human rights (as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent United Nations conventions and declarations) and respect for international humanitarian law in Palestine by raising awareness of human rights and humanitarian issues relevant to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and by promoting public support for human rights and the observance of international humanitarian law

- to support the people of Salfeet in particular in appropriate ways which may be financial, for example, contributions for schools, teachers and students, and other community groups. The intention is to offer support to the whole community rather than to specific groups within it.

- when budgets allow, to promote friendship between Watford and Rickmansworth and Salfeetby organising visits by people of both communities

(B) In order to do this, the Watford Friends of Salfeet will

- organise meetings, conferences, speaking tours and visits to Palestine and invite residents of Salfeet to Watford

- promote formal and informal links at all levels between the Watford and Rickmansworth andSalfeet communities, with emphasis on grass roots friendship links

- provide resources that will enable interested new organisations to establish friendship links with Palestinian communities

- work with other organisations whose aims match or complement those of the Watford Friends of Salfeet

- bring together individuals, organisations and groups in Watford and Rickmansworth that have friendship links with Palestine to share their experiences and ideas and help them to achieve the aims of the Watford Friends of Salfeet
