Continued Support for Our Dog Park

Hi Dog Park Supporters!

 

We have made great strides in getting recreational space for our canine companions.  However, the process of selecting the third dog park( to be located in the East End) has come to a standstill. We ask that you email the town officials below as well as your own town councilor making the 2 points below.  Please feel free to put them in your own words and/ or add important points to you to make your message more personal.

 

1. We appreciate that the Town has approved 3 dog parks for Watertown and that How Park was opened so quickly.

 

2. We understand that the Town Council is still exploring options for the location of the third dog park for East Watertown. While the options are under review we urge the Town Council to use the fenced area at the Grove St entrance to Filippello Park as a trial dog park.

This area is well suited for a dog park because it is within walking distance of several neighborhoods. In addition, Grove St is well traveled throughout the day providing a sense of safety because it is not isolated.  It is also a very cost effective location because the area is already fenced.  All that needs to be done is for the contents of the area to be removed and a smaller entrance for dogs and their owners to be created.
