Oops! Ari is my son's name, that was a typo. He's great! 13 years old, finishing 7th grade. He is unrelated to this art project.

Hello Kith and Kin! Last year, for the regional burning man event in Oregon, I designed a huge dinosaur for the event.

This year, I was picked as the design lead for Portland's submission to the Circle of Regional Effigies, or CORE. These are smaller wooden sculptures which burn on Thursday.

Our design was selected, officially called 'ludum et refugium' but unofficially 'The Tree House'. In order to fund our project, we made a kickstarter event which closes in three days - we're fairly close to our $6500 goal ($5000 raised so far), and I decided I would write to you to show what I had designed and to see if you'd throw in $20.

The kickstarter, with pictures of the design and a video about the project, can be found here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1053506298/ludum-et-refugium-portland-core-2013

More about the design and more sketchup images can be found at http://www.burningmanportland.com/core/application/

Thanks for considering it - it's the largest piece I've designed. Next year, I intend to make a giant wooden buddha, with a flaming, beating steel heart at it's center, entitled 'The Heart Is Not Destroyed By The Fire.

Thanks!
