Hello all,
Yesterday's lecture on Time Travel and Warp Drives with Dr. Epp was fantastic! We learned a lot, especially on how not to accidentally make a black hole that kills everyone. Even though we got rained out during the subsequent
astronomy bonfire, we still managed to make it back to the SLC for an interesting discussion on the origins of our solar system, modern physics, and the possibilities for sentient life in the universe. We are looking to have another
astronomy bonfire event in the coming weeks, possibly coupled with another guest lecture, so stay in the loop for future stargazing events and guest lectures.
This weekend we will be having two meetings;
-University Rover Challenge, where we'll be talking about our partnership with UW Robotics on their 2015 URC entry and how students can get involved, specifically our research into analysis
of soil samples for geological features and biochemical evidence of life.
--> Meeting at 2:00PM in DC1351 Saturday, October 4th
-Waterloo Astronaut Training Corps, where we gather and train students interested in becoming the next generation of space explorers through a combination of classroom lessons and physical training,
focusing on passing physical tests and achieving increasing levels of aerospace-related skills and knowledge.
--> Meeting at 1:00PM in RCH 103 Sunday, October 5th
Looking forwards to seeing you all out! As for HAB, our other Space Research Project, we will be having a meeting this Thursday, October 9th starting at 7:30, room to be announced by me closer to the date.
Thanks,
Daniel Richard
Co-President, WSS
P.S: I'll be sending out a reminder regarding our general meeting this Wednesday, October 8th starting at 5:30PM. Just to let you know in advance, we're changing rooms to DWE 1515.
P.P.S: As you're all probably wondering, I have not yet tweeted Chris Hadfield with our group photo, I'm stitching together the images that we took and will be tweeting him over the weekend.
