While enjoying the food and drinks at the Grad House, you will have the pleasure of hearing two engaging, informative, and fun presentations followed by some light trivia.
Speaker one is also your Nerd Night host: Mechanical Engineering masters program graduate, community artist, and Waterloo region nerd culture icon Ryan Consell. Ryan will be talking about and giving a live demonstration on yo yos. Feel free to bring your own for some instruction!
Speaker two is
Ben Criger. Ben is a PhD Candidate in Physics at the Institute for Quantum Computing, having completed a bachelor's degree at McMaster in 2008. In his (rapidly dwindling) spare time, he designs and builds rockets with the Waterloo Rocketry Team. His greatest accomplishment in so doing is not yet having lost a finger.
Title: Rockets -- Bombs With Holes In Them
Description: During this presentation, Ben will go over the basics of rocket design, discuss the past, present, and future of rockets and related technology for space exploration, and shamelessly attempt to recruit for the WRT. If there's time, he will also share some stories involving the team and their development efforts.
Your nerd trivia master is Eric Moon. Hailing originally from the Toronto geek community, Eric now knows that Waterloo region is where all the cool people are and is a frequent co-host of events celebrating nerd culture in the area.
Your trivia team can be a maximum 4 people or less to answer 20 random trivia questions and receive a prize (we are totally volunteer and non-profit so low expectations please!) for the highest score.
Be there and be square!
