Focus Points are technique points which you concentrate on for a
number of rowing strokes. Focusing on one point will help simplify the
technique as well as help pass the time when rowing.

Focus points are useful during warming up, cooling down and steady
state rowing as it ensures you reinforce the correct technique.

Each Phase and Position of the Rowing Action (http://
www.watercoach.com/home/technique_module/rowing_action.htm) has focus
points; this week we will begin with Focus Points at the Catch:

· Sit tall yet relaxed
· Compress the legs to shins vertical (if possible) or seat as close
to heels as possible
· Arms and upper body stretched out to full reach
· Wrists flat and fingers hooked over the handle
· Head up and eyes forward
