Just thought I would pop onto the group and let everyone know that I am
here in Taiwan teaching a Gentle Birth Facilitator Training next week
for 80 nurses at the University of Taipei. Debra Catlin is joining me
on Tuesday - after having taught a labor doula training in my office
all weekend.
As in most parts of the world, the options for birthing women and
families is pretty dismal. But there are bright spots all over, such
as Dr. Kuang-Ta Huang, who is hosting me in his home. He runs his own
hospital and offers waterbirth in his clinic. Because of that a lot of
foreign residents come there to give birth.
Waterbirth, as well as undisturbed birth, is a new concept here and
viewed with skeptisicm, but I did receive a call from the head of
obstetrics for the big national hospital in Taiwan asking me to consult
on installing tubs and training staff.
Post your questions and I'll try to answer them.
I would love to be able to put up photos of Taiwan and will figure out
a way to do that.
Many Blessings,
Barbara

Hi, Barbara,

One of my sweetest clients gave birth here (in Sunnyvale) and
then moved back to Taiwan. She had a lovely waterbirth and was
moved to increase her involvement with La Leche League while
here, and then the last I heard, she was very active in the
birthing community in Taiwan.

If you happen to come across Wen-Ling Hong, please tell her
that I haven't been able to get e-mail to her but would
love to hear from her, and that I send her my best!

To you, too!

Warm regards,
Ronnie

P.S. I know you're very busy, but I thought it might be
possible that you would have spoken with her, as she was
trying to help get waterbirth into the hospitals there.
(It's possible that her e-mail is coming through in
international text code, which my mailer chokes on.)

Please leave this in your response so it will get through my
spam filters. Thanks. RFFilterKey0601veovlyee

I apologize that I didn't notice that my "Reply" button
got translated into a "Reply All" in my response to
Barbara.

Please disregard. Thanks.
