Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking for several weeks now (on the Yahoo group) and I
guess it's finally time to say hello!
I'm a student midwife in southeastern PA. I have a 'part-time'
apprenticeship in central PA (when I can get there, but it's a 4 hour
drive!) and a volunteer position at a local birth center (where I a
lucky enough that one of the midwives lets me attend births when I'm
around). We have two mamas in labor here at the BC right now!
I'm also just starting a doula service in the area. My website will be
up soon, and I can't wait to share it.
I don't have any children of my own yet, but they are certainly in the
plans! My boyfriend and I plan on getting married within the next two
to three years... but right now life is busy and I'm getting enough
enjoyment from the babies I help into the world.
I've enjoyed all of the information you all have shared recently, and I
can't wait to get to know some of you.
Talk to you all soon.

Welcome, Laura.  I am glad you decided to "speak up."  It will be great to read your insights from a student perspective.
Fresh new eyes, as it were.

Ask your questions from the "old ladies" like me and Ronnie and Zuki.
(speaking for myself ladies  not that I consider you OLD, but just experienced.)

Blessings,
Barbara

Hello!!!!

welcome,  I am a midwife in Atlanta Ga,,, we have only one birthing center In Ga near Savannah.... Since I gave up on the hospital Ob Policie, I am trying to build up groups of pregnant ladies in the water.. I hooked up with a Local CPM to start follow up Homebirth and getting into the groove..
I had  the opportunity to  do a few hospital water births, But it is very limiting either b/c of the local protocols or the nursing staff who do not always understand basic principles of NB physiology .
I know that Barbara is touring the hospitals as Often as she can, but sometimes the nurse manager is tied up herself with the  OB board.... so difficult to change mentalities..
