Rain is here! It is always a good
day for rain in San Marcos.
Here is a recap of the meeting on
Tuesday the 19th.
Our Guest Speaker was the
Director of the San Marcos River Foundation (SMRF) – Dianne Wassenich. Dianne
told us all about Water Hyacinth Removal
and plans to extend to other invasive species, the City River Clean up on March
2nd, and exciting plans with Edwards Aquiver RIP (Recovery
Implementation Program).
The SMRF email updates are full
of useful information about what is going on around town. If you would like to

At the end of the meeting WaterAid
donated $500 dollars to the San Marcos River Foundation! the SMRF is an incredible organization
that has been doing many great things for the San Marcos River for many years.

Hyacinth
Removal - 2/23
- This is an invasive species
removal that the San Marcos River Foundation does every 4th Saturday
- 9am – 12pm noon
- Meet at Medows Center (Aquarena
Center) 167 Spring Lake, San Marcos, TX
Geography Job Strategy-
2/25 at 5pm
- 5 - 6:30pm on February 25th in
room 116 in Evans Liberal Art building
- (description on line) Wondering what you’ll do
with your geography degree once you graduate from Texas State? Get
critical information about the geography field and the importance of
networking from Career Advisor Kim Nelson and Employer Relations coordinator
(and geography alum) Casey Menn
River Clean Up
- March 2nd
- Semi-Annual City River Clean up
- Meet at 9-9:30 at Lions Club Tube Rentals located in City Park
- Spend the day with fellow citizens beautifying the city
- Canoes will also be available (The San Marcos River is awesome to
canoe on)
Hays Country
Crop Walk (Hays Country Food Bank)- March 3rd
- This is a walk to benefit the Hays County Food
Bank
- Meet at Dunbar Community Center at 1:30pm
- We will have a booth that we can talk to people
about the local water issues and easy ways to conserve water at home
- 2 people are needed to work this event
Bobcat Build – March 23rd
- 9am –noonish
