Dear Respected Professor
We are pleased to invite you to contribute a book chapter to our forthcoming volume titled Groundwater in World Deltas: Groundwater Sustainability in River Deltas, to be published by Springer Nature as part of the Deltas of the World series.
We would be grateful for your positive response and kindly ask you to select a suitable chapter topic from the enclosed list within one week.
By the end of April, we would appreciate your confirmation of participation by submitting a brief tentative abstract (approximately 250 words), along with the authors’ names, affiliations, and the contact details of the corresponding author.
Please note that there is no publication fee. Contributors will receive a PDF copy of the book and a 40% discount on Springer publications.
Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Note: Chapters 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 15, 16, and 18 have been reserved.

The description of the book is presented below:
Book Description:
The book provides a foundational and comprehensive examination of groundwater resources within the world's major river deltas. It establishes the fundamental hydrological and geochemical processes that define these dynamic and complex aquifer systems. The book meticulously addresses the primary threats to deltaic groundwater sustainability, including saltwater intrusion, land subsidence due to aquifer depletion, and contamination from anthropogenic sources. It presents a thorough overview of advanced techniques for monitoring, modeling, and managing these precious resources, moving from conceptual understanding to practical application. A significant portion of the work is dedicated to evaluating the impacts of climate change and intensive human activity on the groundwater-dependent societies and ecosystems within deltas. By synthesizing knowledge from diverse geographical and climatic settings, this volume highlights universal challenges and context-specific vulnerabilities, aiming to inform resilient water security strategies. The book is essential for hydrogeologists, water resource managers, and environmental scientists. It also provides crucial insights for policymakers, engineers, and graduate students working on delta sustainability and water security issues worldwide.

Dear Respected Professor Armanuos,

Thank you for your kind invitation to contribute to the forthcoming Springer Nature volume “Groundwater in World Deltas: Groundwater Sustainability in River Deltas.” I am pleased to convey my acceptance.

I have selected Chapter 12: “The Urban Water Nexus: Managing Groundwater for Mega-Cities in Deltas.” The details of the proposed chapter, including the tentative abstract, author information,, are enclosed herewith for your consideration.

The chapter introduces an original framework—the Urban Aquifer Security Index (UASI)—along with a governance architecture for sustainable groundwater management in deltaic mega-cities.

Kindly let me know if any further modifications or additional information are required.

Thank you once again for this opportunity. I look forward to contributing to this important volume.

With regards,
Prof. (Dr.) Kapileswar Mishra
