City of Northampton Health Department Job Opening    

Position:  Public Health Ambassador(s)

Temporary Position   - Up to 35 Hours/Week (Weekdays, some weekends & early evenings)

   

Definition: Performs COVID-19 support work.  Primary functions are non-medical roles at vaccination clinics and testing sites.  


Essential Functions:  

  • Supports City of Northampton and Hampshire County clinic efforts

  • Verifies appointments, vaccine eligibility and documentation

  • Ensures smooth clinic foot traffic flow, registration efficiency, vaccine station support, supplies and safety during clinics

  • Provides individuals non-medical information regarding the clinic process and flow

  • Collaborates with non-medical volunteer teammates as appropriate

  • Supports operations with essential duties including but not limited to; prepares paperwork, clinic set up, break down, inventory, monitors traffic flow, proper masking, sanitizing and social distancing

  • Conducts public outreach 

  • Performs other non-medical duties as assigned 

  • Assists the Health Department in other COVID-19 efforts as deemed necessary


Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with a diverse community using courtesy, tact and good judgment

  • Ability to explain and enforce rules of conduct or another applicable rules and policies

  • Comfortable working on laptops and tablets

  • Must be detail oriented, ability to effectively prioritize and pivot quickly to respond to clinic needs

  • Must have time management skills


Work Environment:

  • Wears PPE (personal protective equipment) - The Health Department will provide any PPE that is recommended for this work. 

  • Roles for registration are performed indoors and outdoors.

  • This job cannot be performed remotely   

  • Position requires standing/walking up to 4-5 hours per day, reaching, twisting, and turning, kneeling, bending, crouching and stooping in the performance of daily activities. 

  • The position requires near and far vision and acute hearing, the ability to stand for long periods of time, and walk up and down stairs. 


Benefits: This is a temporary, non-benefited position. Pay range $15.50 - $17.00/hour
