Hello! Man, have I been busy the past month :) Last week I went to Montana with my Mom to connect with my farming and ranching roots (Dad stayed home with Marlee because she is too little to have the kind of fun I was planning). We started the trip in Stanford, Montana where I got to feed cows, ride a horse, and drive a tractor. I was in heaven!
We started by "caking the cows." I finally got to meet Sweetie Pie, she ate the pellets right out of my hand. Her tongue freaked me out a little bit, but it was really cool!
Next, I got to ride a horse named Credence-he is 36 years old! Man was he nice :)
In the process, I got to show everyone what I have been learning in horse lessons, they were impressed!
I told my Uncle Tom that maybe if he ran a little we could get this horse to trot, but he didn't
think that was such a good idea!
Group picture-notice I am the only one cool enough to ride!
A special thanks to Scott and Stacey Hughes for taking time out of their busy day to let me experience ranching first hand. I had the time of my life!
Next up was my Uncle Tom and Aunt Tess's farm. It used to be my Great Grandpa Marley's farm, so I have heard a lot about it!
Uncle Tom let me get in his tractor...I have not stopped talking about it and told everyone in my class that I am a farmer just like Tom.
It is beautiful country!
This is the tractor that my Great Grandpa Marley used...a little different than today's model!
This was my reaction when Uncle Tom told me we were going to raise the equipment and take it for a spin.
Proof that I drove a tractor at age 4!
I may have been sick, but I did not let that get me down. Look at all this cool equipment.
The combine was next! It was massive :)
My Grandma Jane came too! It was great :)
Another old tractor...
Just sitting by the grain bin, I even got some wheat that Uncle Tom and Aunt Tess harvested.
An early morning walk with Uncle Tom to the rock pile up at the "cabin" (aka amazing mountain home).
I wish I could tell you how much fun I had. THANK YOU Tom and Tess for having us to your home and organizing all of my new and exciting adventures. I will never forget this trip.
The last leg of the journey included a trip to watch my Aunt Erika coach and see my Uncle Jake, Canyon, and Laney (two of my favorite dogs)
My Aunt Eri is the head girls basketball coach at Bozeman High School. Pretty sweet!
I even got to go on the floor and give high fives to the starting players!!!!
Then, as Uncle Tom said, I played the 5th quarter...and killed it.
Luckily, I had perfect weather all around...40's in Stanford for all the outdoor activities, dry roads, then six inches of snow in Bozeman to go on an amazing Ranger ride and play in the snow!!!
Thanks for the ride Uncle Jake.
Watching Uncle Jake shovel, and shovel, and shovel.
Throwing snowballs at my Mom and Grandma Jane was my favorite.
Yep, it's official, I love Montana!
In other news, my sister is still pretty cute :)
My sister, Marlee, loves to bug Oly when he eats...or help him, I'm not sure. He is so patient, he just stares at her and keeps eating.
Marlee wants to do everything I do. Honestly, sometimes it is annoying, like when she insists on taking a turn with my scooter!
Posing for Dad!
Ahhh, the wonder of Christmas. Marlee loves the lights and the tree.
Also, a pretty big milestone...she learned to walk (check out the video below)! Between that, climbing, opening doors (I taught her that), and loving to be chased she is bound to get into some trouble.
Well, I better run. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
