Well, the last 20 days have been something of debacle around this joint.  Let me give you the low down...

It all started with my little sister Marlee, in early June one Friday night about 11pm Mom heard her crying.  She went into her room to find Marlee had thrown up everywhere, and she proceeded to throw-up six more times in about 30 minutes.  Dad was in Boston on business, so my Mom called our neighbor Stephanie and asked her to come watch me.  I was a little scared at first, but I soon settled in and fell back asleep.  Mom took Marlee to the ER, and called Dad on the way (who jumped in a car and went straight to the airport to get home).  After a few shots of Zofran and monitoring, the staff sent my Mom and Marlee home.  Dad got home about 10:00am and a few hours later Marlee spiked a temperature of 103.6.  Back to the hospital they went, this time our neighbor Adri came over and played with me (I am well loved in my neighborhood).  Unfortunately, by the time they got back to the ER Marlee had over a 104 degree fever and was breathing WAY too fast.  The staff decided to admit her until they could figure out what was going on.  Now, typically, this would be a big time bummer, but Dad and I got to have boys' day for THREE days!  Mom, after being up for nearly 40 hours straight, was not as amused.

Labs came back and we found out Marlee had a UTI.  This is not totally uncommon, but also worrisome, so they did a renal ultrasound, which came back normal.  Marlee's pediatrician recommended she also get a VCUG to check for ureter reflux.  If you remember, I had this same test done to try and figure out what was damaging my kidney.  It is not pleasant people.  The results came back and we found out Marlee has grade II ureter/kidney reflux in her right kidney.  Next step, a Urologist to design a long term plan.  Now, let's be honest, this sucks for Marlee.  However, the good news is we caught it before it did damage to her kidney, AND we are fairly certain I was a "silent refluxer" which is what damaged my right kidney.  It is hereditary, and if one sibling is affected there is a 70% chance the others will be as well.  I have never had a UTI, so there was no reason to check me.  Since my VCUG came back negative, I likely just grew out of my reflux.  Marlee is on the mend, but the antibiotic she took to knock out the UTI did a number on her system, so we have been dealing with the aftermath.  I feel bad for her...so I let her chew on one of my stuffed dogs...but just one.

Even though she was really sick, Marlee was a happy patient!

We had to cut all Marlee's PJs to fit her IV.  I think she looks pretty awesome ;)

Here she is getting ready for the VCUG...yuk!

Let's just keep rolling with Marlee, she turned seven months old and is getting more interactive by the minute.  She does not like it when Mom walks away from her, but other than that, she is happy all the time--babbling and chewing on her toys.  She LOVES when Dad throws her into the air.

As for me, last week I was playing downstairs with my babysitter when I ran full speed to talk to Oly in his crate.  I tripped over the foot stool and down I went, landing weird on my thumb.  My mom heard me crying and came down from work.  Since I have a ridiculous tolerance for pain, I stopped crying in about two minutes and resumed play.  But, Inger was worried when my thumb started to swell...so back to the ER we went, for me this time around.  Turns out, I broke my thumb.

Here I am at the ER, soft casted at that point, until we could see a hand surgeon!
As per usual, I kept the staff entertained.

Saw the hand surgeon, he said no surgery for me (thank goodness), but I do have to wear a hard cast for four weeks.  I'm super bummed about one thing, no swimming or playing with water.

Mom and Dad were the first ones to sign my cast (I chose blue, just like Stuffy the Dragon)!

While I was soft casted, I went to my friend's birthday party at a gymnastics gym and got to play in the big foam pit (and on everything else with Dad's help).

Oh yeah!  This was SO FUN!

Even Marlee had fun hanging out with her friend Ambrose!

...the next day, I had a 103 degree fever.  A trip to the doctor on Monday confirmed I had strep throat.  At this point, Mom was ready for a drink.

But let me bring you back to simpler times...

 Like Father's Day!

We got my Dad a sweet BBQ cake!

And bird sitting (look at Frost on my shoulder).  What an awesome experience, I really love animals

And building a "car wash" out of PVC pipe with my Dad to help me beat the heat.  I got to use it once before hurting my thumb and it ROCKS!!  I was in charge of measurements.
Nothing like working with power tools!

And finally, having a great water play date with some of my closest friends!

Well, that's about it from here.  This weekend is my BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!  Details to follow.
