Hello! I wanted to let everyone know I made it through my double eye surgery on Friday with flying colors! The anatomy looks great, in a couple weeks Dr. Cassidy will be able to tell if my brain has recognized the rewire and started using my eyes together. The surgery success rate is 80%, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. Since I have already been part of the 20% on my first go around (three years ago), I am due for a win! I was a model patient, as per usual, but Mom says watching me come out of general anesthesia is not pleasant for her and my Dad! For now, I have to put medicine in my eyes twice a day, make sure to wear my sunglasses, and let my parents know if I have any pain. From there, we just wait and see.
Here I am with my Dad before the surgery...he got to come back with me to the
"penguin room" where I went to sleep!
Mom only cried a little, I was pretty impressed!
Here I am with my dog Goldie before surgery, I had all the nurses laughing too!
Day two post-op. Dr. Cassidysaid my eyes will be red and sore for a couple of weeks.
The muscles on each of my eyes have been repositioned in an attempt to keep them aligned.
Here I am three years ago right before surgery...a little bit of a difference, huh?
Thanks for all of your well wishes, I will be in touch!
