Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received notification from St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office at approximately 2:08 a.m. of an overdue boater last reported aboard a 17-foot white center console recreational vessel in the vicinity of Vermilion Bay.

Sector New Orleans watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and the launch of a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center HC-144 Ocean Sentry air crew to assist in the search. Also searching were crews from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office, the Vermilion Parish Constable's Office and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries

A good Samaritan aircraft located the aground vessel and vectored in the helicopter crew to the boater at approximately 10 a.m. The Jayhawk air crew arrived on scene and hoisted the boater aboard the helicopter and transported him to his vehicle at Cypremort Point, Louisiana.

After missing the three-day red snapper season due to Tropical Storm Elsa, Brody and I set out to pick on their smaller cousins, the vermillion snapper. While lacking the size and strength of American red snapper, vermillion snapper are abundant, easy to catch and tasty.

Since we have established that Brody, the amazing fish-finding and stock-trading dog, is smarter than me, I left the planning of the vermillion snapper trip to him. He checked the offshore marine forecast, selected the calmest day, and invited my brother Dave and his son-in-law, Sean, to join us.

On Saturday, we met on my dock at 6 a.m. and set course for some live bottom ledges in 100 feet of water. Conditions were rougher than forecast and it took us over an hour to arrive at the ledges. Upon arrival, we idled around watching the depth finder looking for a large school of vermilion. It took a bit of looking but we eventually found the fish.

The crew began fishing with Shimano Flat Fall jigs and two-hook dropper rigs baited with squid. The bite was hot. Our only problem was that Brody kept on eating the squid that we brought for bait. Thankfully, we were using food grade squid and he had no ill effects.

Given the break in the action, we decided to double check our fish count. As it turned out, we were at our limit of vermilion. The crew agreed that Brody was smarter than me. He kept us from exceeding our legal limit (which was my job).

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office shortly after 2 a.m. on May 22, 2024, in reference to an overdue boater, according to U.S. Coast Guard 8th District Heartland. The boater was last reported to be aboard a 17-foot white center console recreational vessel in the Vermilion Bay area.

Sector New Orleans watchstanders coordinated the deployment of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew to assist in the search. Also assisting in the search were crews from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office, the Vermilion Parish Constable's Office and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Though Vermillion's and Siedor's paths never crossed in Vietnam or during their subsequent Army careers, a common cause brought them together several years ago: a Congressional Gold Medal for Dustoff crews.

This effort has been underway since 2015, spearheaded by Medal of Honor recipient Maj. Gen. Pat Brady, USA (Ret), a fellow Vietnam Dustoff pilot. That year, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) introduced a bill, The Dust Off Crews of Vietnam War Congressional Gold Medal Act. Unfortunately, the bill never moved out of committee.

In subsequent years, the bill has been reintroduced but with no progress. Vermillion and Siedor are continuing their efforts to educate legislators and find support for the bill in the 118th Congress.

"It defies belief that this bill continues to sit in Congress," Siedor said. "If you look at the statistics, it's clear why these crews are deserving," he said. "... They flew 24/7 and did not have the luxury of waiting for a cleared landing zone, the weather to clear, or night to end, as urgent patients faced death without immediate lifesaving care."

She helps with the audition process for each show and teaches music to each cast. She rehearses with the pit orchestra, and conducts performances of each GREAT musical. CasualtiesDozens of Crimson Dawn guards[5][Source]The Raid on the Vermillion was a mission undertaken,[3] between 3 ABY and 4 ABY,[4] by the crew of the bounty hunter T'onga to rescue Cadeliah, the heir to both the Unbroken Clan and Mourner's Wail Syndicate, from Crimson Dawn. The crew hired the bounty hunter Dengar to lead them to the Dawn's flagship, the Vermillion, where Cadeliah was being held captive, though unbeknownst to the crew, Dengar was actually aligned with Crimson Dawn and had infiltrated the crew to lead them into a trap. Dengar took the crew to Nal Hutta, where the Vermillion had traveled to rendezvous with its agents. After they made their way aboard the ship after Dengar had created a distraction, he informed T'onga and her crew that they would find Cadeliah in the brig and directed them to a turbolift before he left.[3]

As the crew went up the lift, they began to realize that Dengar had been lying and were ambushed by a group of Crimson Dawn soldiers as they exited the lift, though they were able to defeat them. After the soldiers had been dealt with, the Knights of Ren,[3] a group of dark side Force-users who were aligned with Crimson Dawn[6] arrived to kill the crew.[3]

Senator Robert Menendez, a two-term Democrat from the East Coast state of New Jersey, was indicted Wednesday on 14 federal corruption charges. Menendez is accused of accepting improper favors, including Caribbean vacations and "loans" arranged by Florida eye surgeon Dr. Salomon Melgen. Menendez in turn acted on behalf of Melgen in congressional matters, investigators say. Melgren was indicted along with the senator.
