Cancellation of July 15th Waste Prevention Action Team Meeting

To all Team Members: 

Our regularly scheduled Waste Prevention Action Team Meeting is canceled for next week, July 15th. We WILL have our next meeting at its regularly scheduled date on the third Wednesday, August 19th, at 5:30pm. We encourage Team members to attend. This meeting will be via Zoom. An agenda will be sent out in early August. Some of the possible topics, in addition to regular updates from project leaders include: 

• Strategic Planning Group's final report. 
• Team Leader recommendation on what process we would use to update our Team's goals. 
• Update on Oregon's Task for on Solid Waste in the Willamette Valley and an overview of new legislation being introduced by Rep. Finger-McDonald to establish a regoinal partnership.
• Presentation on Benton County's Solid Waste Management Plan. 
• Local impacts of the Recycling Modernization Act (RecycleOn Centers). 
• Recycling Block Captain update and the new project initiative with Greek houses. 
• Sharing of observations on waste prevention and recycling practices in Germany and Asheville by Team Members.

Our home in Philomath, Oregon is located within the traditional homelands of the Mary's River or Ampinefu Band of Kalapuya.  Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
