Hi, Action Team Leaders,
At their November meeting, the Coalition’s Steering Committee adopted a new Whistleblower Protection Policy (attached). The purpose of this policy is to:
1. Encourage volunteers, agents, consultants, and employees to come forward with credible information on suspected illegal practices or violations of policies adopted by the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition;
2. Reassure that the Coalition will protect the person coming forward from retaliation; and
3. Provide procedures on how to report suspected illegal practices or violations of Coalition policies.
Please share this policy with your team members.
We were motivated to develop the Whistleblower Protection Policy when we were asked on an IRS form whether or not we have such a policy, and we had to mark “no”. We are very grateful to Steering Committee member Marie Loiseau, who is an attorney at The Reynolds Law Firm, for her willingness to guide us in the development of this policy.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Annette
