Dear Parents, WASO members,


After the half-term break there will be just 3 more rehearsals until the Spring concerts for all groups apart from WYO, they have 4 rehearsals.

18th March: WASTO/ WAYSE/ Wind Band/ Introductory Band

19th March: Concert Band


25th March: WYO Concert

Please read below important information regarding the concerts.

 

Rehearsal schedule for the concerts:

 

WASTO, WAYSE, Wind Band, Introductory Band Spring Concert
Wednesday 18th March, Thornden Hall

5:00 - Staff/parent helpers to arrive to set up.

5:30 - WASTO

5:50 - WAYSE

6:10 - Wind band (percussionists to arrive 5:30 to set up)

6:40 - Intro band

7:00 - Clear stage

 

 

Concert Band Spring Concert
Thursday 19th March, Thornden Hall.

5:00 - Percussionists to arrive to set up.

5:30 - 5:50 Concert band.

5:50 - 6:10 HCTWE

6:10 - 6:40 HDRE and HDRC

6:40 - 7:00 HFC

7:00 - Clear stage

7:30 - Concert

 

 

Students may bring a packed tea if required. Please note: no nuts or kiwi due to allergies.

 

Behaviour & Venue Guidelines

  • Excellent standards of behaviour are expected at all WASO events.
  • Rooms allocated at Thornden Hall are for meeting only. Please do not touch school equipment and ensure rooms are left free of litter.
  • Students may bring something quiet to occupy themselves while waiting. They may remain in their changing rooms or sit quietly in the concert hall during rehearsals. Children will not be permitted to leave the building. Staff and parent helpers will be supervising.
  • Parents: once you have dropped your children off for rehearsals, you must leave Thornden Hall and return in time for the concert. The venue is not open to the public during rehearsals. Doors open at 7:00pm.

 

 

Concert Uniform Requirements

With concerts coming up it’s a good time to think about polo shirts!  
If your child is new this term (or has grown) please email Ana Tam at wasos...@gmail.com so we can make sure we have enough stock.  Ana and other members of the committee will be selling new and second-hand shirts at rehearsals on 4th March.

 

NO TRAINERS please! If in doubt, please wear school shoes.

 

WASO Boys

  • WASO polo shirt
  • Black trousers (not jeans)
  • Black socks
  • Black polished shoes

WASO Girls

  • WASO polo shirt
  • Black skirt (appropriate length) with black tights OR black trousers (not jeans)
  • Black socks
  • Black polished shoes

WYO Boys

  • Plain black long-sleeved shirt
  • Black trousers (not jeans)
  • Black socks
  • Black polished shoes

WYO Girls

  • All black: either a long black dress OR black top with black skirt (appropriate length) and black tights/shoes OR black top with black trousers (not jeans), black socks, black polished shoes

As usual, Parent Helpers and Ushers will be needed to allow the concerts to run – with three concerts this term (and ensembles from outside the WASO pyramid involved at two of them) things are a little more complex, please use the link below to sign up to support these events.

Raffle            

Friends of WASO will be running a raffle on the 18th of March concert – please bring any donations for the raffle to rehearsals after ½ term.
