Hi, I would like to ask a question, I hope someone can answer me.
Today we are in 2020, according to you which of edius 9 pro and vegas 17 pro is more suitable for making video montages in 4K with native files without problems?
Which of the 2 software do you think are better and why?
explaining the pros and cons?
Of course, a lot also depends on the type of PC that one clearly owns, but let's say for example a PC like mine in signature.
thanks
My opinion: You're asking for an easy way out of an impossible answer. No one can accurately predict problems with such complex software ahead of time running on any particular system. If that could be done, all software would be perfect. Even if it was possible, everyone has their own "feels" about what they like best in such complex software. Does Edius do a good job with editing? Yes. Does Vegas Pro do a good job with editing? Yes. It's all completely subjective after that, and only you -- the user -- can (and should) determine which is best. Vegas offers a trial. I suggest you try it. I would also find out if Edius offers a trial, and if so, try it. You have some work to do and the only way your question will be answered accurately is for you to do that work. That's the opinion of The Turd.
Note to self (everyone else please look away -- the note that follows is a reminder for mine eyes only): Figure out a clever, kick-booty signature that suggests I'm completely aware of how to properly and exhaustively party on and that I, in fact, engage in said act on a frequent and spontaneous basis. All joking aside, listing my computer's properties is a futile endeavor. I edit multimedia in a local television station newsroom that has Vegas Pro installed on several machines with widely varied specs. We began editing non-linearly with Pinnacle Studio Version 8. That didn't last long before we upgraded to Vegas Video Version 4, then to Vegas Pro 10.
If you look on the forums for Grassvalley Edius & Vegas pro you will find there appear to be more problems with Vegas. This of course may be related to the user base. Both forums are helpfull & supportive.
Currently use both Edius 8WG & VP17. Both are excellant programs in their own right and have steep learning curves. Starting from scratch VP17 comes in at a very good price. Starting with Edius 9WG you get a free upgrade to E10WG when it is released. Have never used Edius Pro in any version so cannot comment.
Thanks for your advice, I already have a license of edius 8 pro home purchased 3 years ago and I am fine, but I wanted to know how it works vegas pro 17 edit also seen the good price, I downloaded the demo and I'm trying it and I find everything different from edius as setting and commands, but as transitions effects and titrator it seems to me that vegas is superior, but I'm still not sure, also I have the impression that vegas 17 with the native 4k 4096x2160 files is more fluid in the timeline than edius 8 , mah !!!!!
I have to try experimenting again to better understand.
Thanks again.
When looking through forums, keep in mind it's human nature to discuss problems more often than to discuss everything that's going well. You don't know the ratio of people who have no or minor issues vs. people who have major problems vs. people who just simply don't understand the software well enough to make it do what they want it to do. I, for instance, fall under the "no or minor issues" category with Vegas Pro, but, admittedly, I've never started a thread that states that.
Edius 8 pro duly purchased 3 years ago by rekeo ITALIA.
But by 2020 the edius 10 pro version will be released with many new features now, and I would be interested in updating to this latest version, so before edius 10 pro comes out I want to understand how Vegas pro 17 works, to know which of the 2 is the most suitable for my tastes, with edius 8 pro I am VERY GOOD apart from the poor and obsolete titrator, but it would not be a serious problem.
thanks
