Hey Everyone,
We decided to send out the positions to everyone in case some of you just wanted more clarity what exactly the available roles are for next year! Practice is from 1-2:30PM and after practice we will then have elections, in Seigle 104. If you can only make elections, please still come then!
If you are able to make it, you will be expected to speak for a couple minutes about why you want to be on exec in general, what you think you will bring to the position, any good ideas you have for fulfilling the role next year, and whether or not you would be open to running for additional positions. If you are interested in running and can't make it to talk briefly about why you would like to fulfill a role next year, email in a written response tomorrow by 2:30PM!
President: So next year, I (Kitty) was planning on running to be president! I have a good idea of how much time and effort it takes to run club but I also have a bunch of ideas for improvement. That being said, if you are interested in running as well, feel free!
Vice President: a VP should be highly involved with club, from showing up to practices to sending out necessary emails and attending budget/sports club board meetings and working with the president to complete whatever needs to be done.
Tournament Coordinator: Works with the President and VP to organize tournaments, from rental cars, to booking hotels/flights, and entering tournaments.
Practice Coordinator(s): Practice coordinators need to, first of all, be able to make/prioritize as many practices as possible, as well as be able to think of fun and creative drills on the spot and provide tennis knowledge so that people of all levels that come out can be able to play.
Social/Spirit Chair: A social chair is in charge of making sure that club tennis has fun. This next year there is going to be a larger emphasis on extra-tennis activities! This person should plan on organizing mixers and thinking of fun things for us to do as a team. We have a pretty large budget and I want to use it! Additionally: designing and ordering uniforms! This next year we would love to revamp our travel gear and that involves new uniforms for the men and women on the team. Additionally, you should plan to making shirts that we can sell to club members sometime in the fall semester!
Webmaster: Works on the design/implementation of our website and is able to make changes/updates when needed. This person is also in charge of getting people to engage our website and our Facebook group for questions regarding practice times and events. Our online presence needs to be much better this year to keep everyone in the loop!
Treasurer-In-Training : Treasurer is a position required by SU and Noah Rosenblatt will be our treasurer this coming year. We would like to bring on a Treasurer in training in the spring semester so that they can get the swing of things with the intention of them being treasurer the following year!
Every Position is also required to:
-Attend practices. Once we have established next year's exec, we are going to sit down and lay out requirements that we are all expected to follow so we are all on the same page. We are a team, running a team :)
-Communicate personal needs/ aspirations for club. The reason we have exec is so that everyone can feel supported when doing their part to make club tennis better.
-Like tennis :) Sometimes the demand of exec is going to be a bit tough but if you like what you are working for, its all worth it.
If there are any positions that you think are missing to make us the best we can be, come and bring it up! We are open to suggestions :)
