Dear WADA Members,
On behalf of the Center for Independence (CFI) Board of Directors, we would like to announce that our Executive Director, Leah Velasco, has decided to transition out of CFI in September 2024.  Leah has served CFI so greatly as the Executive Director since 2019 and has helped CFI grow significantly since she started as the Youth Transition Coordinator in 2009.  She is a highly respected servant leader who brings a deep understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusions and access.  We have learned that Leah is irreplaceable. She single-handedly turned CFI around, made it a sustainable working environment, implemented new services, grew the organization to a million dollars, and found and secured many grants that expanded capacity, among a myriad of duties and management tasks.  She has set the bar extremely high, which makes it incredibly hard to find someone to fill her shoes.
Nonetheless, we are in search of the next CFI Executive Director and appreciate any help with getting the word out to reach potential candidates.  Please see the job ad attached for more details and how to apply.  The job ad can also be found on our website at Career Opportunities — CFI - Center For Independence (cfi-wa.org).  We want to ensure this is a smooth process for our community partners as well as CFI.
I want to thank Leah for her service as CFI's Executive Director as well as my deep gratitude for her dedication to CFI and the community over the last 15 years. Please join me in wishing Leah all the best in her new endeavor!
Sincerely,
