Next week is New Jersey Farmers’ Market Week. Long Valley Green Market has been chosen by the NJ Department of Agriculture out of all 150 farmers’ markets in the state to host the 2012 Farmers’ Market Week. NJ Secretary of Agriculture Douglas Fisher will visit at 3 p.m., along with other public figures TBA. There will be a short speaking program, a presentation of Farmers’ Market Week proclamations, and a tour of the market.
 
The Green Market, on Schooley's Mountain Road by the Columbia Trail Crossing, will also be hosting the following events:
 

August 9: Celebrate Summer with Chef Sam

Enjoy the fresh flavors of summer as chef Samara Salisbury cooks up a delicious chilled corn soup that was selected for the 2012 Edible Jersey Farmers’ Market Cookbook. You can also pick up a copy of the cookbook for yourself; Chef Sam will even sign it for you!

 

August 23: Tomato Fest

Think you grow the best tomatoes in town? Make the best tomato sauce or salsa? Our panel of expert judges will decide whose recipe is the tastiest, as well as who grows the best-tasting, biggest, and funniest-looking tomatoes.
