Call for Abstracts and event proposals for the 2012 World Water Week!
Planning for the 2012 World Water Week in Stockholm, August 26-31, is in full motion. Is there a specific issue you would like to see on the agenda for this year’s conference? We are now inviting individuals and organisations to host a seminar or side event, or to submit an abstract for one of the scientific workshops. Deadline: February 15, 2012. The theme for the 2012 conference is: " Water and Food Security".

Get your copy of the 2011 World Water Week Overarching Conclusions
The 2011 World Water Week Overarching Conclusions captures the issues and insights advanced during the week. In the second chapter, five teams of rapporteurs offer their narrative on five thematic streams that they've been tasked to cover during the week, whereas the final chapter gives an overview of the incredible work of prize laureates and award winners.

Nominate now for the 2012 Stockholm Industry Water Award
Do you know a business that is managing its water sustainably? The Stockholm Industry Water Award recognises improved performance in production processes, new products, and management, as well as innovative approaches in water and wastewater technologies which together help to improve the world water situation. Any sector of business and industry can be nominated. Deadline: February 15, 2012.

New issue of the Stockholm Water Front tackles water and energy nexus
In this issue of the Stockholm Water Front we explore one important aspect intertwining with food and water in a broader nexus: Energy. Examples of the so-called “nexus” integrating those three aspects of human and planetary development and well-being are reported on from the Bonn 2011 meeting in preparation of Rio+20, as well as from China's coal mines, and Durban, the South African Municipality. More interesting topics and news are covered, so download your issue now!

Young water professionals encouraged to join World Water Week's Scientific Committee
SIWI is launching a new initiative, and is now seeking eight committed Young Water Professionals to provide support to the World Water Week's Scientific Programme Committee in screening and reviewing the abstracts submitted to the World Water Week and reporting back from each of the workshops that will be organised.

New "Water Integrity" training to be launched
The UNDP Water Governance Facility at SIWI (WGF) together with its partners WaterNet, Cap-Net and WIN recieved USD 2.4 million from the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) for a period of three years to implement a Regional Capacity Building Programme promoting and developing water integrity in in East Africa, West Africa and South African Development Community (SADC) region. The training will target different water sector stakeholders at regional, basin and national level with roles and responsibilities in regulation, controlling, planning, policy development and decision-making. It also targets stakeholders less directly involved in water management, but with a key role in strengthening or demanding accountability, such as media, water users associations and advocacy organisations.
