Im having problems with drum seal failing.  Anyone know how far to seat the inner drum bearing? I have replaced bearings and seal in my washer 3 times in the past 2 years. I noticed it looks like the drum flange is rubbing on the flat surface of the seal.

Recently I purchased a bearing kit from frontloadbearings.com.  The bearings were good.  However, the seal was different than the original. The new one was a flat circle about 1/8 inch thick with a hole in the center.  Like a flat doughnut. It did not have the metal retaining ring around the outer edge like the original to position it correctly and securely. I was confused. My first attempt was to mount it flush with the bearing hole opening.  However, it rubbed the back of the basket. I over corrected and pushed it in as far as it would go, about another 1/4 inch. However, I now realize that was too far away from the basket and its mating surface for the seal.  Must certainly water got in and my new bearings are ruined. I should have moved in in just a 1/16 inch and also used silicone seal on the outer edge. I will order from Jerrod at yellowvanhandyman.com this time and see what his kit includes.
