Our washing machine is only 4 years old, it has the same bearing
noise. Its a top loader instead of side load. i cannot seem to find
anyone who can get a bearing kit for this. Has this been occuring to
top loaders as well?
thanks

We are seeing failures in units less than a year old! I have not dove
into the repair process for top loaders as of yet however.
Where are you located?

I am located in Illinois an hour southwest of Chicago. Is it one of
those deals where you need bearing and seal size? My original idea was
to take it apart and just order the same size bearings. But seeing
that the seal (obviously) needs replaced also. I did not want to leave
it apart that long. With a family of five, the laundry piles up pretty
quick.

Yes, for sure, have 5 myself! Downtime is unacceptable and can quickly
get you in the unhappy house or sitting at the laundry mat or in-
laws....

The bearings will be easy and the overall job is super easy on the top
loaders. I would pop the top and pull it apart just to check part
sizes and be double sure and the put it back together temp and find
your parts and then tear into it.

Good luck!

Where would I have to go to get a seal? I should be able to order the
bearing from a wholesaler in Joliet. With the quality of seal that is
needed< I have no Idea where to order from?

Yes, the bearings are normally easy o find. The seals are much more
difficult. Most of the ones we get end up coming from Asia at some
point as that is where most of them are made. I have lots of contacts
so send me the info off the seal and bearings once you get it apart.

Ok, I got this baby apart!! I think Ive got the right numbers. The
upper and lower bearings I believe that grainger.com has them. I will
give you the sizes anyway. the seal I cannot seem to find, so
hopefully you will have better luck.

Seal: O.D. - 55 mm
I.D. - 33 mm
Width - 15 mm

Upper Bearing: O.D. - 55 mm
I.D. - 30 mm
Width - 13 mm

Lower Bearing: O.D. - 47 mm
I.D. - 25 mm
Width - 12 mm

Thanks
Nick

Nick,
We can easily get the bearings for this. Are the numbers (sizes) you
have given printed on the bearings and seal or did you measure them?
If you measured them then send the part numbers off the pieces
instread so we can verify sizes.

For the seal, same thing. If those sizes are off the seal then we can
search for it but if you measured them then there is a different way
we need to go. To properly and accurately measure for the seal, I
need you to measure the diameter of the shaft where in inner seal
rides with calipers. And, measure the outside diameter of the seal by
measuring the size of the opening where it fits when assembled.

We can certain get all of this for you and quickly! I am proud of you
for adventuring to fix this yourself! Nice work.

I got looking closer at the bearings and noticed they had different
numbers on them. I hope this helps. I measured everything with a
digital micrometer, so they should be pretty close.

Seal - O.D. 56 mm
I.D. 34 mm

upper bearing - KBC 6006DK (or they could be a G instead of a 6)
lower bearing - KBC 6005DK
both bearings had a 1154 number also stamped on them.
let me know if that helps?
thanks
Nick

Bearings are no problem. Did you measure the seal off the seal or off
the shaft and seat as I described? Thanks- jerrod

Yes the seal was measured off the shaft and the tub that it seats in.

OK I have found bearings and a seal that will work for you. If you
woulsd like to order a kit them just make sure to put a note on it
front loading and model number I can have the bearings shipped
tomorrow and the seal would be shipped direct from the manufacture to
save time. Just let us know what you would like to do.

Whirlpool has a bearing/seal kit for this that also includes a new shaft.  The part number is W10435302. They also sell an installation tool, W10446683.
