I just replaced the bearings and seal in my Samsung front loader. Everything went back together well. Unfortunately I now hear a grinding sound like metal rubbing agains sheet metal. It appears that it is coming from the motor in the rear of the washer. When I installed the bolt in the end of the bearing shaft I snugged it up as good as I could by hand with 1/2 drive ratchet. Any ideas what I can do? Definitely not bearing noise.

Ted,
The rear nut is likely overtightened. These machines are not designed with a thrust bearing that would control the in and out or front to back action of the shaft. The shaft just floats and must have some play. They could have done a better job with building a shoulder or something so the nut could be tightened without this but they they could end up in a spot where the bearings could get bound up so I understand why they have designed it the way they have. If you loosen the nut, you may need to apply a little silicone or something to the threads so it does not walk itself off.
