to Washer Repair
I am acustom to rotating the inside of my Maytag Washer's Drum by hand so I could get cloths to come to the bottom. When I did this, I heard a kind of roaring sound (rrrrrrrrr), and now I know the sound is coming from my motor. I know this because when I hooked the belt back up after replacing the bearings, I rotated the large pulley on the back of the machine and I heard the roaring sound coming from the motor. My question is does this sound indicate the bearings are going bad in my motor, or is the sound coming from the magnets moving past the poles of the motor? I was really supprised how much tension is placed on the Black Drive Belt; it took a lot of force to get the belt back on the pulley. So with all that pressure on the motor's bearings, I can understand if the motor bearings are making some noise after 14 years of use (if it's the bearings I'm hearing that's making the noise).
