I ordered a bearing kit I need but have concerns about the Spider ARM shaft where the seal rides. I cleaned it up but it lines around the shaft where the seal makes contact. Does the spider need replaced as well? Do not want to replace the seal and bearings only to have the seal fail in near future.

Some of the bolts appear to have blue/red Loctite. When assembling does Loctite need reapplied?

Are there any torque specs on some of the bolts? Mostly nut that holds the drum to the motor.

Hi,
You're lucky if a spider arm was readily available for your washer. My spider arm had broken and the washer was banging like crazy. The parts list for my 2003 Kenmore Elite only listed the tub/spider arm as an assembly for $$$ and zero were available. I was able to source the only available spider arm for my washer on eBay for $200. I was fortunate the seller provided intact screws for it as the screws for my broken spider arm needed a lot of persuading to get out and several of the heads were damaged in the process. I did note that my screws had no Loctite which is likely why I had trouble removing them whereas the seller's screws did. I cleaned up the threads and used fresh Loctite, snugging the screws in tight, not bothering with any torque spec as there isn't any. BTW, I only changed the bearings as I had easy access with the tub out. (THAT was not easy.) But my 19 yr-old washer runs like new.

Spider Arm came today. Looks good and came with new bolts with Loctite on them. Pulled the old Spider Arm off. Bolts were not to hard to get out. Broke loose with ratchet and then used my 3/8 impact to remove them. Ready to start to put it all back together. Glad I got a new Spider Arm. The shaft on the old one was very worn where the seal rides.

Got it back together on the porch. ) First test gave a drain error. Checked debris filter. Clear. Flushed tub with fresh water. Walked away from it for a night. Thought I had it all connected ok. Today it appeared to drain ok but now was overfilling. ) Blew out the line to water level sensor. Ran a quick 20 min cycle. Ran cycle ok. Running a ECO cycle now with a load. Going ok so far. Our Yorkie is watching over the cycle. ) If it goes ok will move it back into the house. Spin cycle is very quiet now with new bearings.
