Is there anyone within this group who has located the seal for a
Whirlpool sports duet Model WFW8500SR00?
You have been at this a lot longer than I have.
I have removed all the parts:
Seal (Numbers on):
ATP-1-12
8540347

Bearings: Nearest seal: manufacturer is SKF
P/N :6207-2Z/C3GJN

Rear Bearing: manufacturer is SKF
P/N :6206-2Z/C3GJN

Also has anyone ever attempted to put the old seal back in with sealed
bearings?

Any other ideas.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe-
I am really close to having a kit for these models. We have had
success with a couple of repairs with a prototype seal. I am going to
look at a new seal that could be our long term replacement fix for
these models. Assuming it works then I am going to shoot a new video
for these models and walk through the repair. If this doesn't work
then we have a completely new seal in the works that will take a few
weeks to produce. I should know more in the next few days. You
"could" possibly be the first to test this new seal on your machine if
you want. If so, send me the dimensions for the seal that you have
along with the bearing sizes. Just to verify they match what we have.

The deal is that the manufacture has protected the seal design to
ensure they can sell lots of their new machines or the $900 rear
housing assembly.... Once we get a fix for the seal replacement then
we can save all these rear shells by simply replacing the bearings and
seal.

You do not want to use your old seal as the new bearings will only
last for a short time. My guess is the may last a couple months with
heavy use to maybe a year with really light use. You will have to
take the machine apart again and grease will mostly likely get on your
clothes from the new bearings. Not a good situation. I know the
laundry mat is a pain for a bit but a better option at this point then
throwing it back together.

Thanks,
Jerrod

Hi Jerrod,

I've checked your site for the bearings and seal but don't see the Whirilpool Duet Sport Model WFW8500SR00 that's mentioned in this post. Do you have a kit that would be suitable? I have the same machine and would like to tackle the repair.

Thanks,

The kit you would need is the he2 plus kit. There are alot of models that we don't have listed. Yes there have been a few that have put the original seal in wih new bearings, and at this time we don't know how they are fairing. Usually if the bearings are bad its because the seal has failed. You can get both bearing and the new seal with the kit.
