Hello there,

Is it possible to use the Cygwin toolchain with wascana eclipse? I
have wascana running fine with MinGW but would like to try compile &
make with Cygwin. I've installed Cygwin but don't know how to make
wascana eclipse recognise it.

Thank you

Wascana is build on top of CDT which has built in support for cygwin.
The only way it recognizes it, though, is if cygwin is install in
C:/cygwin.

Wascana is intended for native Windows programming. Cygwin is counter to that.

Hi Doug,

Many thanks for the reply.

So if I want a version of Eclipse where I can compile & build under
both MinGW & Cygwin would you recommend starting with the generic
Eclipse platform then adding the C/C++ Development Tools (CDT)
followed by MinGW and Cygwin? Would that be better than using Wascana
with Cygwin ?

Thanks,
Jim

Wascana is a superset, so you should be able to start with that. I'm
just not sure what shape cygwin support is in since I don't use it.
There may be more info on the CDT forum at Eclipse.

Thanks Doug. I can now compile & build in Wascana with either MinGW or
Cygwin. The reason for using Cygwin is that I'm trying to simulate
some C programs I've inherited running on Unix - one in particular
that uses the crypt function which I couldn't find in MinGW.

Best wishes,
Jim
