The best games like Limbo offer alternative experience that capture a similar feel or style of play. The striking aesthetic of Playdead's puzzle platformer certainly helps to make a lasting impression. Limbo released over 10 years ago now, but its influence in the indie scene continues to be felt with the games that came after it. Whether you enjoy the puzzles and platforming, or you're after something that evokes a similar vibe, there are plenty of fantastic games like Limbo out there to discover across platforms, so you're sure to find something to suit you here.

Following on from Tarsier Studios' 2017 release (which is also worth a look), Little Nightmares 2 evokes a similar atmosphere to Limbo with its own unique spin on the genre. With Six from the first game now acting as a guide, you play as a young boy called Mono who finds himself trapped in a dark world inhabited by nightmarish threats that you'll have to overcome as you seek find the source of strange transmissions coming from signal tower. Just like the first game, you'll deal with puzzles, traps, and unsettling residents as you try to help six. Little Nightmares 2 is an essential follow-up if you enjoyed Limbo, and it's worth checking out the first game, too.

Another atmosphere-first platformer that borders on the existential and surreal, The Swapper came a few years after Limbo and excelled by the merit of its own ambience, curated by a two-man student development team and a host of hand-crafted assets made out of clay. You can see the knife marks in detail as you explore an abandoned research station, utilizing clones to solve gravity-bending puzzles and unravel the mystery of The Watchers. Light Metroidvania mechanics make this game stand out in the genre, and its inspired art direction ensures its a timeless experience, even six years later.

Players know that Limbo is an elegant gentleman and paranoid suitor. He spent his whole life, even risking his life to complete the space jump. But now the story is like a joke. Because Eximus can knock him down in Limbo's proud space at will.

Everyone who has used him knows that Limbo can't bear too much damage. Therefore, players need to use Shift to enter the Rift plane to avoid damage. But now, Eximus can quickly knock down limbo and ignore Rift plane. And limbo needs to leave Rift plane to attack Eximus. But leaving Rift plane means limbo needs to take more attacks from other enemies.

Does this seem inexplicable and cumbersome? But this is the embarrassing situation of this warframe. The enemy's capabilities have priority over the warframe. Limbo doesn't have any ability to ignore rift plane, but his enemies can! Limbo is not only unable to protect himself, but also unable to protect other goals! His rift plane is like a joke now!

The all-encompassing Rift + Stasis combo still freezes non-Overguarded fodder, so you switch your priorities to taking out the Eximus and little squad of enemies protected by an Ancient Healer's aura. He can still do this while sitting safe inside the Rift.

If there is an Eximus outside the Rift while you're dealing with one or more inside the Rift... Rift Surge them in. Stasis should still make their gunfire freeze taking ranged weapons out of the equation.

Its funny actually, I attempted a mobile defense tier 4 bounty on Zariman today and I approached as per usual, plug in the datamass trap it on the rift zone use stasis and I backed off in the rift ready to move in if any pesky nullifiers decided to go in melee range of the rift, turns out none of that happened instead some exmius units got close and apparently they just ignore rift now so yeah that's an unfortunate failure, guess I'll have to write Limbo off in mobile defense game mode now.

I am actually all for Eximus being CC resistant but immunity to the Rift in my opinion is just too far, can't tell the differance? Resistance means you are still Vulnerable to some degree Immunity means it doesnt matter how long you try you will NEVER succeed in your task, I mean hell if that is tall order why not make it so enemy projectiles move 70% slower in the rift?

Of course what you said is true. But Limbo is not a combat warframe. His fighting ability is not even good. He is not Saryn. All his skills revolve around his exclusive Rift plane. But now the effect of Rift plane is no longer practical. His enemies can ignore rift plane, but he can't. He himself was constrained by Rift plane. That's the funny part.

well, kinda hard to sidestep any of the new Eximus they are all mass AoE. i doubt limbo could even outrun the Venomous Eximus which can kill him outside the rift wile he is in it by standing next to him. then you have the flame eximus who does a giant fire wave that you have to Roll through and that makes limbo leave the rift, which then leads to him getting 50 bullet holes in him. then you have the lightning Eximus who shoots homing balls of lighting which should instakill limbo due to how strong electricity procs are.

Seems like at the moment to deal with defend the objective from Eximus attacks is to put everything else and yourself inside the Rift, not the thing you're defending. Stasis + Banish/Cataclysm + Rift Surge micromanage while gunning down the bullet-sponges, not exactly efficient indeed.

I'm curious how many people here actually play Limbo. I tried it today and he still works fine. The eximus unit can move in stasis but their bullets are completely stopped in mid air so they still can't shoot me while I shoot them. I think its even easier this way because they don't clump at the edge of the cataclysm anymore. They can just come in helpless and get killed. I guess its different if its a melee unit but if its a melee unit, just shoot them.

Sad thing is, they can't even use the old defence 'but lag from projectiles' when you have frames like Vauban and Mag who can literally make GPU-melting supernovas with their abilities, and Rivens with multishot + -projectile speed on frames like Mirage etc. Feels bad man.

What are you doing to let that stuff become a threat? I just toss one Exodia Contagion on them and it wipes out their over guard thing. Note, this isn't even a min maxed zaw or anything. Its just whatever I made years ago. And people have guns with several forma that just wipe out entire rooms now.

Freezing friendly projectiles was terrible design. Literally incapacitated the entire squad from using guns. Sure it was a fun and memable gimmick, but it was mostly just used by trolls to piss people off. Its the main reason why Limbo has such a bad rep to this day.

I totally agree with u.The current ver. of the eximus is very strong to wfs especially for limbo. It is a very special one because its skill design. This wf rely 100% on its skill and rift to survive and fight.

Totally! Limbo is ruined, he cant even finish the mobile defense mission on Zariman by his own, the Eximus skills damage go through rift thing is not making any sense... i guess most people dont wanna play defense missions from now on.

I'm 33 year old female in South Wales and currently on the waiting list for Autism Spectrum Disorder. There have been many things throughout my life that point towards having autism such as peers claiming "You're not normal!" and my response simply "Define normal" (I never did quite work that out. I would have probably classed myself as a bit of a chameleon. I got on with most people although I feel those relationships have always been rather superficial. I've struggled with poor mental health for as long as I can remember, although there have been times the pit of depression has felt like someone else lived it. Autism is something that has crossed my mind previously and online tests have usually scored me as borderline (around 7/10) although I know these are not diagnostic tools I could never understand why others would score about a 2, especially if they had weird little quirks.
