Shadab Alam is going to tell us about his recent work today at 2pm in Wean Hall 8325 (seminar room)! Join us in grilling him with very hard questions and I will try to scavenge around to get some edibles!

Title: Redshift Space Distortion: Measurement and Implications
Abstract: I will start with the idea of Redshift space distortion and its modeling. I will describe in some detail the measurement of RSD we recently submitted for SDSS-III DR11 CMASS sample using Convolution Lagrangian Perturbation Theory. This will be followed with the discussion of implication of our measurement of f\sigma_8 when combined with other similar measurement. I will show constraints we obtained on modified gravity and extension to $\Lambda$CDM models using the measurement of growth rate with planck CMB. I will also discuss our recent proposal of combining the measurement of growth rate with CMB lensing to test gravity at largest scale and earliest time.
