I'm having some problems getting this to work so that I can look at
it. Vassal keeps saying the main file is not a valid module. I have a
very small (small enough to perhaps be round-off error) discrepancy
in the file size for that one, and a larger discrepancy in one of
the .mdx files. Any idea what the problem is?

I just downloaded the main mod and one of the expansions (I picked one
at random). I was able to load them into VASSAL 3.1.5 with no
problems. The files on the site are working correctly. I'm not sure
what to tell you if you are having problems getting your browser to
download them. I went to the files section and right-clicked on the
file and picked "save as" from the menu. You'll want to put all the
extensions in a child folder (child of the parent folder containing
the main mod) call "whq-v_Ext" that way they'll show up in the VASSAL
browser window.

I am unable to open this in 3.1.4, which is the latest version I have,
I'm going to be downloading 3.1.5 when I get a chance. I keep getting
the 'not a valid module message'. I show the file size for the module
as 7.37Mb, whereas the site list 7.4Mb. That's what I meant by
possibly roundoff error. Several downloads resulted in the same file
size, which is why I am uncertain if it is the problem or not. The
major discrepancy was on the whq-v-rpg-tp0-pt2.mdx, where I only got
7.12Mb where the site lists 8.8Mb. Again, several attempts resulted in
the same file size. I am not a novice as far as setting up Vassal
expansion files or downloading items. I am, however, on dial-up, which
can result in downloads timing out. I'm trying to figure out if that's
the problem, or if it's something else.

I downloaded "whq-v.vmod" and checked the size on two different
machines. Both machines stated that the file size was 7.43 MB
(7,796,394 bytes).

"whq-v-rpg-tp0-pt2.mdx" shows up at 8.80 MB (9,231,449 bytes)

Since mods are just zip files can you open it that way? Just rename
file and put .zip on the end and then open with WinZip or another such
program. Just wondering if it will give you an error if you try that.

Hope that's helpful. I wish I had some better advice.

Sorry to be so long replying. Thank you, that was exactly the
information I needed, but I ended up having to use a high-speed
connection on a library computer to get the whole thing (it still kept
downloading the same incomplete file even after deleting all copies
and clearing the cache, etc, which usually solves that problem for
me), then misplaced the USB drive for a couple of days. I've got it
working now, and it's pretty good looking, though I don't agree with
all of the house rules (but then that's why there are house rules).
Are there any plans to work on the supplemental characters and quests?
If so, is there anything I can contribute to the project without
needing to have a scanner? I've got both box expansions, and can
probably track down most of the materials for the expansion characters
(some of it got misplaced in a series of moves).

I'm glad you got it running! At this point I'm working on other
projects, but I'll be back to this project again. I'm just not sure
when.
