One of my miners suddenly went offline because of power outage and it's wont start now. I can't check it physically right now because i have no access to the location. I will have after couple of days. Should I be concerned for it :) I ask because the transition to the solana will begin soon. Will it be updated when it comes back online?
Running into an issue with all my bobcat300 miners. I have two bobcat miners in two different places showing "Needs Attention" that reads, "Hotspot is offline and not syncing." Not sure what to do because both are connected to the internet with green lights on the miners.
I had one of them working well for a month or so and when I changed the place of the other, both stopped working. I'm not sure if this was the cause or if it's a helium blockchain thing. Any thoughts?
I'm hosting a hotspot on a device (e.g. Raspberry Pi) that has no internet connection running Ubuntu 20.04. I use the hotspot so that other devices can connect it to and make HTTP requests to a server running on it. However, I notice that clients (e.g. Mobile phones, laptops) that connect to it often lose the ability to use the internet because of DNS issues (even though they are still connected to their 4G/ethernet) - The error I usually see when using Chrome on my mobile phone while connected to the hotspot is "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET".
I think that the clients are prioritising the wifi hotspot for DNS/internet connection, even though the hotspot does not provide one? Is there a way to tell clients to not prioritise/use the hotspot network (without any client-side modification), except for e.g. requests to 192.168.10.0/24 or certain addresses such as www.foobar.com?
I have an app that needs to connect to a hardware via Wi-Fi. For this purpose, the hardware offers an offline Wi-Fi Hotspot. The hotspot's DHCP doesn't give us a gateway or DNS so we know right away, that it's for offline use only.
The end user will be at work and have to stay connected to the Wi-Fi the whole time in order to receive sensor data and alerts if something is wrong with the data. But at the same time, we don't want to force the end user to be offline with his mobile device. He should be able to use his mobile data for our and all other apps he has.
After trying this out on various devices, I can say, that it is not possible to achive the desired behaviour consinstently on all devices.Pretty much all the devices, behave differently. The OS-version is not really a factor. It depends more on how the vendors handle the case, that a user is connected to an offline wifi.
Based on the device, it might be possible to stay connected to offline wifi and use mobile data at the same time for all apps. But the OS can automatically disconnect you or lock you into the offline-wifi and disable mobile data. Maybe it does it because the user selected an option in the system dialogs as shown above.
I'm trying to play a video game with my friends that requires a local wifi network that allows UDP broadcasts. The dorm wifi doesn't allow UDP broadcasts, so I'm trying to set up my laptop as a hotspot. Windows 10 by default allows you to share an internet connection over wifi, but you must have an internet connection to do so. Sharing the wifi connection results in a lot of problems such as constant disconnects, and I don't have access to an ethernet connection to share. Is there some way I can set up a wifi network without actually sharing an internet connection?
4.) After that run the command, netsh wlan start hostednetwork, to start the "Hotspot" broadcast. Right now you can play without internet connection after all devices connect. Remember to check IP addresses of all your individual devices in order to connect to each other. The hotspot's IP Address usually is "192.168.137.1".
I am having the same issue with both my Ring Pro doorbell (wired) and Floodlight Cam Pro (wired). These have been working fine until a few days ago, and now go offline when there is no activity. They come back online when detecting movement or the doorbell is rung, but then go offline again so you cannot access the live view or change settings. This looks to be a software update to save on power, but as these are all wired devices, battery power is not an issue. Glad I am not alone with this - Ring needs to change this at least for the wired devices, or provide a setting to keep them active.
Has anyone tried to contact ring directly on this - chat is down.
Hi there, neighbors! We had our team look into this matter and any concerns related to a device showing offline when it is not, should be resolved. Please press the setup button on your Ring device to enter setup mode, then press it again to exit setup mode. This will allow it to reconnect and establish the connected status in your Ring app as intended, if it is not already. Alternatively, you can also follow the steps in this Help Center article to reconnect your Ring devices. I hope this helps!
ON my iPhone 4 my wifi/Bluetooth hotspot appears to be working normally and my other device is tethered . yet displays an offline status in browser. I have tried all of the suggested steps . My orher device connects to any other wifi network effortlessly & yes I have full data plan & it's paid and it used to work fine.
Is there a setting or app for iOS that will allow me to create an offline hotspot that nearby devices can connect to? Again, this is only for transferring data between devices - I do not need an internet connection.
Unfortunately it is not possible to create such an "offline hot spot" with the iPhone. If your provider does not allow you to setup a personal hot spot, you cannot really get this particular product working like intended.
I have since done some more experimenting and found that actually I didn't need to use the router at all and could just link up to my laptop by turning it into a wireless hotspot. If anyone on the future finds this post and wants the solution, in windows 11 go into settings, find the mobile hotspot setting under network, turn it on and connect your headset to your laptop that way. In my case it works flawlessly and I just finished up a great session of Until You Fall, from a laptop streaming from an entirely different room on a different floor in my house. Remarkable..
Hey there, @lewisjdunnsir. The best way to go about this would be to get a new router than can connect to the internet. That way you can use it as you'd like and make it a dedicated router for Air Link. You could also use the router that's still working, though if there's a lot of other devices connected to it it's possible that it would be a bit slower. You can use the device without an internet connection as long as you've completed the setup and pairing, as well as installed any games or apps that you'd like to use while offline. We hope that this helps!
I have no idea why this is happening. I do feel like there has to be something deeper going on on the ISP side. They're blaming the Mesh system but even when I stick with just one hotspot I still lose internet on the router.
As I was leaving home this morning, I got yet another notification stating one of my Wi-Fi points had gone offline (no real surprise). When I got to work I thought I'd check to see if it had come back online and the system said it was offline.
On top of this issue, other IoT devices in my household struggled to stay on the 2.4 band. It was becoming a serious problem when one of those devices controls our irrigation system and another our security cameras. I ended up switching back to the Google Wifi that I was using before (happily, for years) and lo and behold no sprinkler issues, no issues with the security cameras connecting, and our points don't randomly go offline. The only reason I had switched was out of a naïve belief it would be better since some of our devices could now handle the 6 band. I honestly didn't even want to have to learn about any of this - I just wanted a plug-and-play "it just works," and boy was that not what I got. When I do need an upgrade, I will not be shopping for a Google system. For one thing, the limitation on user controls is just horrible when we have to deal with all sorts of devices that need particular connection channels. It's not as if I have much choice in how those IoT devices work and it's not as if I get a magical check to cover upgrade costs even if other devices were available. Just let us control the system.
I have also been having this issue. For the last 8 days it continues. It's happening right now as I type this on 8-2-2023. This is the 4th time in 3 days. My modem is connected but Nest Wifi Pro just goes offline for no reason.
still; every single day quality degrades where at least one AP would go into yellow, and at least once every other day, random AP goes completely offline. The only remedy is to keep restarting the entire network on virtually daily basis. Incredibly frustrating.
Been having this issue occur more frequently over the last few months. Usually if I reset the network it'll come back on or in some cases even come back on line on its own. But yesterday, after doing both a network restart and factory reset, decided to call Google tech support. The tech's advice was that my ISP's router/modem was creating a Double NAT and so I needed to enable bridge mode on the ISP router. Wish I would've read these posts before I did that. I followed the tech's advice and today ran in to the same issue of the access point going off line. Called Google support today and they said that the issue is that the access point is too far away from the Google Nest Wifi router. According to this tech, ideally the access point should be no more than 25-30 feet away. Now my ISP combo router/modem no longer functions as a router, meaning that I can't access the combo router/modem's network and I still have the access point offline issue. I tried doing a factory reset on the ISP router and that didn't work. I called my ISP and the only solution they could offer was to send me a new router. Frustrating that after having the Nest Wifi product for 3 years with no issues, now I'm having the access point offline issue every few days.
