Neighbors,

I am excited to share that I am launching five educational committees geared toward promoting equity among our schools, amplifying community voice, empowering residents, and building agency across Ward 5.

I hope you will consider joining me next Wednesday, April 10 at 6:00pm at the Woodridge Neighborhood Library (1801 Hamlin Street NE, Washington, DC 20018) to learn more about the new Ward 5 Educational Equity Committees and how, together, we can invest in and promote equity among our schools.

Wednesday's meeting will be primarily informational, though we will spend a portion of the meeting identifying committee names, solidifying goals, and assigning tasks. I also expect some of my State Board of Education colleagues to join us. Fun.

You will find attached to this email a brief description of the committees and meeting information. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Allyson Wilson at allyso...@gmail.com. If you cannot join us next Wednesday but wish to support and join one of the five committees, please let Allyson know.

My goal is for these committees to unite diverse groups of Ward 5 neighbors, while empowering parents, educators, students, elected officials, and ordinary citizens alike to promote equity among our schools through various channels.

Hope to see you next Wednesday. All are welcome.

Talk soon,

Zachary Parker

Ward 5 Representative

DC State Board of Education
