Saturday Strong Book Drive:
Please join us on May 21st for the Saturday Strong Academy Book Drive in support of HD Cooke Elementary and Browne Education Campus. We are encouraging the community to visit us at Sankofa and purchase children’s books during the hours of 10am – 1pm to be donated to the libraries at each respective school to bolster their collection of culturally relevant texts. We will kick off the event with a short program including an overview of DC Public Schools Empowering Males of Color Initiative, a read aloud, screening of a video, a short performance, and student testimonials. We hope to see you there!

About the Saturday Strong Program
Saturday Strong Academy is a team-based, character development mentoring program for select DC Public Schools male students of color in grades 2-5. Participating students meet one Saturday a month and receive group mentoring from volunteer mentors on various character development topics. Mentoring topics include respect, communication best practices, the importance of community, and many others.
